Janet G. Burhyte’s practice focuses on corporate and business bankruptcy. After a two-year federal law clerkship to the Honorable Beryl E. McGuire, United States bankruptcy judge for the Western District of New York, she established a private bankruptcy law practice.
Janet has represented debtors, creditors and creditors’ committees in Bankruptcy Court in business reorganizations under Chapter 11, in bankruptcy proceedings under Chapter 7, and Chapter 13 for individual business owners and professionals. She has represented a number of Chapter 7 Trustees as special counsel in complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters.
Janet represents creditors who hold claims against Chapter 7, 13 and 11 debtors, including secured creditors such as banks, unsecured trade creditors, landlords with pre-petition and administrative claims, creditors with reclamation claims and plaintiffs in personal injury cases whose lawsuits have been stayed by the bankruptcy case.
